Hey, Are You Ready for Some Football?

Super Bowl 2011 is around the corner...
  • The Black Eyed Peas performing...
  • Great commercials...
  • and of course cheering your team to victory.
I created this little Super Bowl basket for your favorite football lover.
It is in the Hobby Lobby magazine.
Yes, the layout is little Miss H. when she was a little bug!

One of my favorite features in the basket is a little stuffed football
I made to throw at the television when the referee makes a bad call.

Mark your calendars for February 6
and dance with me to
The Black Eyed Peas!

Rock on Crafters!!!!!
Pick up your Hobby Lobby magazine
It is in the February 2011 Issue

stay warm and create

How to Make a Chocolate Covered Strawberry and Not Gain a Pound

Well, I am kind of telling the truth.

Hobby Lobby had marked down
the fake fruit 50% off this week.

I was needing something red
to fill my glass jar  for
Valentine's Day!

Strawberries sounded scrumptious!

4 bags of strawberries later
and it occurred to me that
the strawberries needed something.

CHOCOLATE of course!

Here are the steps to make your own:

Supplies needed:

  • Plastic fruit
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Brownstone Glitter
  • Americana Acrylic Paint in Burnt Umber
  • Plaid Clear Acrylic Sealer
  • Foam Paint Brush
Directions:

Paint strawberry's tip with brown paint.

Sprinkle Glitter on the strawberries while the paint is still wet

It really is that easy!
Spray your strawberries once they are dry with a sealer.
This will help keep the glitter from collecting at the bottom of your jar!

Remember these may look like real strawberries
 but they are NOT!
Keep out of reach from young children and little paws!

Resin + CANDY

This weekend was a "no plans weekend"-
Those are rare!

So, I took advantage of the free time and played with Resin.

I had never used it before and was amazed at how slick it worked....
Here is a great blog with more Resin Tips-Crafty Minx

My best advice is to read the instructions thoroughly
and to mix the ingredients longer and more than you think you need too.
I set the timer on the microwave to help me.
Also, remove bubbles by using your embossing heat tool.
It works like magic.

I made a bracelet and some little baubles for jewelry.
It was so easy and fun I plan to make some more candy jewelry!
You know how I have a terrible sweet tooth!

Joy to the Jo-Ann's Wish Book

It came...
The Jo-Ann's Wish Book!

I remember, when I was a little girl,
the Sears Catalogue would magically appear.
It was packed full of
  • wonderful toys.
  • Dolls I had never seen before
  • and Barbie's Dream House
which I wanted more than anything!

As I grew older, the wish book stopped coming,
that was until yesterday!

Toot toot!

Jo-Ann's made a dreamy wish book for me!

I hope yours comes soon!

It is delicious!

So, I went to Jo-Ann's...

And what should I see?
My crafty journal on a header in the scrapbooking aisle.

Yippee!

Wouldn't this be a sweet gift for a crafting friend
  •  to write all their ideas in
  • or a place for them save picture inspiration projects?

A few more projects I made on the sign!

Head to Jo-Ann's and check out the crafting aisle.

So many things I found to fill my stocking!

Trick or Treat Candy Collectors

So I have been crafting for Miss Nifty Thrifty-
Here are a few candy collectors I made!

This owl bag is made from a pillowcase.
I put the name Jane on it because I was talking to my neighbor, Jane
before coming inside to craft it.
It would make a fun slumber party bag after Halloween.
Here is the link for directions.

Oh, baby was this a dusty old basket that I was hanging on to.
Little orange spray paint and magic glitter-
turned it into a Jack-O-Lantern!
Directions Here!

My Red Dot Recycle Bag got a face lift!
Felt and Buttons turned it into a sporty shopping bag or candy collector.

The dollar bin helped me with this bag.
3 little treat sacks for $1.00!  Yeah!!!
I added felt wings and crazy eyes...
Here are the directions.

Spook eyes lighting the night on Halloween...
only these eyes are made of Styrofoam and buttons.
The word is an iron-on.

Here is a glamorous tote...embellished with feathers, charms, and gems!

Trick or Treat Give Me Something Good To Eat

Create a fun candy holder for any occasion.
All you need is
  • a wooden frame,
  • Velvetta Cheese Box,
  • and your favorite seasonal papers and embellishments.
For directions and supplies visit K and Company's website by clicking HERE!

I wanted to create a Halloween scene, so I chose the frame for the base of the project.  It would work for a Christmas scene, Easter scene, or even welcome to the neighborhood with a house scene.  A frame has built in hangers on the backside. You can tie a ribbon through the hangers and then hang the candy holder on a door knob or the wall.
