A taste of Christmas New York Style

Nothing says Christmas like New York City.
The holidays start for me by watching the magical Macy's Thanksgiving parade on TV.
I have always dreamt of seeing New York in December and this year my wish came true. I had never been there before and was so excited to fly in for a Christmas party and a day of sightseeing.
You read that correctly....one day!
My New York list of all the places I wanted to visit just couldn't fit into one day...
but I made the most of it.
Grab your coffee and enjoy way too many photos.

We stayed at the Marriot. It was located in Manhattan. The doormen wore fabulous coats with matching hats. Different times of day they would be dressed in different colors.

Our first night, we attend a beautiful party. It was at the River Cafe and sat directly under the Brooklyn Bridge. The view....wow-what a view of Manhattan!
Kumiko sent me these next 2 photos. So glad she was there and so glad her husband had his camera. It isn't like me to leave mine in the hotel.

The next day I went exploring and shopping and exploring....
Those of you who know me, know that I don't like to go out on my own. I am scared I will get lost, or something will happen, or I just don't like being alone. Well, Mr. Ward was in a meeting all day and it would have been a shame not to see the city. I just had to do it!

Here is my adventure!

Saks Fifth Avenue with snowflakes covering the building. Look at the lines for viewing the store's window displays. The displays were amazing and worth waiting to see. The characters moved and the windows were decorated in an order where they would tell a story.

St. Patrick's Cathedral. I think about the Kennedy's getting married here! Okay, I am not catholic, but I just had to go in the doors. So glad I did...the signs inside said no photography but I saw many people taking pictures. I just couldn't. It was a sacred place. They had a manger display that was beautiful and I was worried that baby Jesus got stolen because he wasn't nestled in his bed. My friend told me not to worry that he will come out on Christmas Eve. The church was so pretty. I walked every inch I could of it so I could take it all in.
Next, I walked to Rockefeller Center! It was so close to my hotel. Bonus! I saw the angels as soon as I turned the corner. I got goosebumps! The tree...it really twinkled. All those Swarovski Crystals were dancing on the tree at different times.

I love the soldiers standing guard around the ice terrace!

You know I don't like exploring a city by myself...but I even ate alone on this trip. I grabbed lunch at the Rock Center Cafe. I didn't mind being alone. I watch the skaters and kept pinching myself that I was really at Rockefeller Center.

Shane called and met me in the NBC building. I couldn't resist taking a picture of him with Dwight from The Office.

We walked across the street and I took pictures of Anthropologies window displays. AMAZING.
Christmas trees made of post-it notes.
Snowcone paper stacked to look like a snow drift.
Cotton batting became blizzard around a car.

All the store windows had me entranced. This little couple moved slowly together and kissed.
Did I mention that it was my wedding anniversary right before we left for New York?
Trees hanging with crystals...a forest of bling!
I passed Jimmy Choo.
Everyone take a moment of respect for the shoe God.
I had to go here...Tinsel Trading Company. I just couldn't be in New York without walking in the door. I took a cab all by myself and spent at least 1 hour looking at all the trims and Wendy Addison yummies. It was crafting heaven!
We ended the night by going to a Broadway show. We were in the 6Th row. I saw every sequin sewn on all the costumes. I felt like Cinderella for a moment. It was definitely a fairytale day.
Happy Holidays!

What a wonderful time.. I love New York City.. I would love to be their in December. I bet it was so beautiful. I know what you mean about going exploring alone.. It took me quite a few years to get brave but, I eventually went for it.. When we were in New York.. I walked everywhere alone.. Sometimes my Hubby was busy. We also spent our 25th Anniversary there at Phantom of the Opera.. It was so wonderful.. I am happy you were able to spend some time there. Merry Christmas to you.. Happy New Year!
