A Ballet Slipper

A Ballet Slipper ....it was tucked so sweetly in the top of my goodie sack. It was part of a farewell dinner, with the talented Vintiques teachers. Soon as I saw it in the sack...my heart became a puddle of mush. Most people wouldn't want one ballet slipper-that was worn and not the correct size. But Shelia, the owner of Vintiques...she just gets it. No explanation needed...she knew that I would treasure it, give it a good home, and display it as art. I took it home and added just a little "Me" to it...it was already so beautiful. I used K & Company Madeline rub-ons and a few pink rhinestones. I pinned a pink bow that I had in my jewelry box and that was it...simple and lovely and forever grateful to have been a part of Vintiques. It you weren't aware, the store is closing and Shelia and Craig are starting a new chapter in their life. I wish them the best! Glad I had a chance to meet each person that made Vintiques so fabulous. Our paths cross for reasons...we don't know why, until later. Au Revoir!

Dearest Kara,
What a stunning idea! I used to dance and did have a pair long ago. I wish I had them now because I have often thought of either glittering up just one, or doing something to display them. I totally "get it" as well! Your photos reminded me of something that I have on the back burner of my creative mind; I was watching a fairytale movie the other day and in one scene, there was an open book; the pages were peppered with white/clear glitter, just enough where you could still see the scrolled writing. It was gorgeous and I am going to make one. However, I am torn at the moment to sit and write my masters thesis so I have to use my time "wisely" as my adviser says. He doesn't know that I have this creative bent! Thank you for your visit; your blog is so charming, and pink, well what can I say but, BRING IT ON!!! Please visit me again to see what I have been doing with pink! Anita

A beautiful shoe...made more beautiful by your hand. My love for these shoes goes deep, deep into my soul...I wore and performed with these for years....I still have a pair of mine hanging in my studio. A stark reminder of the finality of some choices in life...and a reminder that ..I can always fly!

That is so sweet! What a lovely idea!..the perfect use for them, better than wearing them.
I had a friend that danced pointe, and those are some "cruel shoes"! I remember her toes used to bleed.

What a beautiful idea. I'm sure I have an old pair of toe shoes somewhere. My youngest daughter took ballet for years. Now she is a modern dancer in San Francisco. I think this would be kind of a nice thing to do for her. Simply lovely!
