It was hard to leave PARADISE...but I am home from

the lovely St. Regis Resort in Dana Point, CA.

It was a rough few days...relaxing on the beach, facials at the spa,

and shopping in my favorite little town of Laguna.

I am home to laundry, no groceries, and a kid home with Strep.

I am the luckiest girl on the planet.

just sounds ridiculous to me.

Pieces with Meaning...

I am not a big, fancy jewelry kind of girl.
Don't get me wrong, I love diamond's, ruby's, and sapphire's...
I just don't really have very many!

But, if you dig into my jewelry box you would find...
trendy pieces,
hand-made pieces,
and meaningful pieces.

I thought I would show you three of my favorite, most-worn, meaningful Mommy pieces.

This bracelet, my husband bought me when Sutton came into the world.
It goes with everything...
And, I have worn it 9 years!

My mom had this piece made for me on my last birthday.

I had been wanting an initial necklace but I really didn't want just my initials on it.

So, the "K" in the center is for me

- and the "H" and "S" represent my children's name.

This piece is my newest addition-

It has my family's names on each charm.

I bought the charms and jump ringed them onto an inexpensive chain.

I layer this necklace with an Anthropologie necklace I picked up on clearance.

Isn't it delicious?

You don't have to have expensive gems--
to have treasured jewels!

DC last few Days of Fun

Day 3-
We packed the rental car and headed to Gettysburg.
It was the place Lincoln gave his famous speech Four Score and Seven Years ago...
All around we could see homes, graveyards, and artifacts from Civil War Times...
It truly was like stepping back into time.

For lunch we randomly pulled into a restaurant next to McDonald's.
It was called the Dobbin's House.
Little did we know, that this was one of the first stops of the underground railroad.
We ate downstairs in a candle lite tavern.
Such an unplanned and unique experience.

Our next destination on vacation was Hershey, Pennsylvania.
We checked into the Hershey Lodge....
MMMMmmmmmm.

Chocolates awaited us in our room.

The sheets had Hershey Kisses embroidered on them.

It is a heavenly bed!

Even a bathroom wallpapered in Kisses...
Yes, the soap and the shampoo was chocolate flavor.

The town really did smell of chocolate.

The light posts were Hershey Kisses and the factory reminded Shane and I of Willie Wonka's.

It was connected on one side to a lush park with a stream that flowed into the factory.

The other side of the factory was an amusement park.

Up on the hill overlooking the factory was the elegant Hershey Hotel.

It has a chocolate spa!

We had to go check-it out!

Day 4-

We went to The Story of Hershey and The World of Chocolate.

Both are Delicious!

I would have to say The World of Chocolate was our favorite.

We went to a 4D-movie.

It shoot confetti on us, rained on us, smelled of chocolate, and played tricks on our eyes.

Next, was a factory tour on an amusement park like ride...

Then, time to get suited up to make our very own chocolate bar.

You start by designing your chocolate bar at a computer.

Then, you pull a lever and watch your creation come to life.

While your chocolate bar was in the cooler...

You need to design a wrapper for your candy.

Life is SWEET!

Our flight was the next morning,

so we headed back to DC to stay the night by the airport.

One finally stop was on our agenda...

Arlington Cemetery-

I wanted the kids to see (visually) all the people that had fought for our freedom.

It is a powerful sight.

While we were there, the last living WW1 veteran was buried. It was a little tricky getting out of Arlington with the President and Vice President paying their respects.

We walked to the top of the hill to see where the Kennedy's were buried.

They have a beautiful view of DC.

We also took the kids to see the tomb of the unknown soldier.

It was time for the changing of the guard.

A perfect tribute and a wonderful way to end our stay in DC.

DC-Day 2

We hit the ground running on our second day of travel--
The Smithsonian Museums were calling our name.

Our first stop was the Museum of American History

Here are a few of the highlights!

Julia Child's Kitchen-I love how her husband drew on the pegboard where to place the pot back in it's spot.
All the First Ladies of the White House dresses. I couldn't take pictures because I couldn't stop looking at each one. There was a film playing in the background interviewing many of the First Ladies and how they felt donating their gowns to the Smithsonian. It was really something to see.
The Star Spangle Banner Flag...no pictures allowed of it! All I could say was WOW!
Abraham Lincoln's Hat worn the night he was assassinated at the theater.
And many more...from Michael Jackson's Hat to Kermit the Frog.

This place was full of surprises for me.
I thought I was going to be bored!
Boy, was I wrong.

Day 2:
Second Smithsonian Museum
Natural History
( I went here in November with just Shane-
we had fun showing it to the kids)

Hello Dum-dum from the movie "Night at the Museum 2".
The center of the museum...the elephant
We happened to be at the museum while the orchids were on display. I took hundreds of photos and can I just say it, smelled like heaven in there.
The Hope diamond worn by a dog! I love it!

The earthquakes as the aftershocks were occurring in Japan.
The great yarn sea...Little Miss H was in love with it too!

Are you exhausted yet?
One more museum to see today...
Air and Space Museum.

I was just worn out by now--
I am not sure I appreciated how cool this place was because I had seen too much.
My brain was done processing.

If you like planes and rockets then you will love this place.

I saw the actual Spirit of St. Louis Plane
Amelia Earhart's plane and goggles.
The Wright Brother's plane and bicycle.
Lots of space stuff

You thought you were done...
Ha, now for the 8 block hike to the hotel.

Let's take a little detour.
Do you see why?
Ford's Theatre on the right.
I wanted to see where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.

A DC Surprise-Day One

So, our adventure started like this...
a letter that the kids opened after school on Friday!

We left at 4:30 AM and they didn't have a clue where our destination was!

Finally, on the second flight we told them that we were going to D.C.

First stop in Washington was the hotel.
It was on the historical hotels list.

You could say they were tired but very, very happy!

We walked to the White House.

A protest was happening there...
It was peaceful!

The backside of the White House!

We walked to the Mall and looked at all the monuments.

D.C. makes you feel pride!
Just look how beautiful that flag is!

We paid our respects to those who fought for our freedom!

Hayden was trying to hold up the Washington Monument...
aka "the pencil".

As we walked "the Mall"
we noticed how friendly all the squirrels were.
Some where taking food from people's hands.
This one would strike pose for each click of my camera.

We took turns standing where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech.

We were in aw of Lincoln and stayed there for quite awhile.

We were tickled
by this crane trying to fit in with the geese.

We walked silently to pay respects to our veterans.

Then, worn out from all the walking...
we hopped in a cab and headed to
Georgetown!

Just look at this line...

It goes all the way up the hill and to the stop sign.
I wonder what is going on here!

Cupcakes of course!
DC Cupcakes!!!

We decided to grab dinner first and see if the line got any smaller.

Next to the restaurant was....
ANTHROPOLOGIE!!!
Score--just look how cute their store window was decorated.

I want to make some!

We headed back to Georgetown Cupcakes...
And waited 2 hours in line.
Mr. Ward thought we were nuts!

Look at the girl on the right,
making flowers for the cupcakes.

Does she look like the girl on the poster?
Hmmmm.

I saw Martha punches on their tool wall.
Everyone needs alittle Martha in their life!

The store was lovely...even the flowers!

Wish I could have brought you one!

I must say it was a wonderful cupcake and worth the 2 hour wait!
The store closed at 9:00 PM.
That is when we placed our order.
The line was still all the way to the stop sign.
The store stayed open--everyone working had a smile on their face.
They could teach Wal-Mart a thing or two.
Don't you think?

Anthro-Amazing pologie!

Can I just say,
"I am SOOOOO tired tonight".
I have been burning the midnight oil for 2 weeks now
and I am fading!

This is what happens to me
I get so excited about what projects I am making,
I can't sleep.
All night long, I dream about them.
Why can't I turn off my brain?
Tonight, I keep thinking about
Jeans, that's correct denim jeans!
I want to stitch shamrocks and
rainbows, and maybe even a
Irish Blessing on them.
I can't get them out of my mind.

However, the kids are home for spring break so---
I will have to take a blog break.
And-stitch my jeans another day!
Sure hope I can sleep! wink, wink

Brave Girl Bracelet

Just a quick post today...
This is the leather bracelet I made at Brave Girls Camp.

It had many problems.
The biggest issue was that I stamped the letter "a" but it wasn't an "a".
It was a "g".

How do you fix that?

Add lots of ribbon and buttons of course!

Making the bracelet released a lot of stress-

pounding the leather with a hammer...

I was so inspired by the other bracelet makers at camp!

Each one different,

each one special and

each one so beautiful!

When I have a little extra time,

I will be making more leather bracelets because in all honesty

It is FUN!

My new mantra is "Stay True".

A Life Uncommon

Sometimes Starting is the Hardest Thing to Do!

I just wasn't quite sure where to begin,
it is like having a giant soup pot filled with ideas and not knowing how to separate them.
So here I go, with my first sip of information...

Brave Girls Camp allowed me precious time to CREATE!

No interruptions,
No deadlines,
No worries...

(well sort of...I always have worries and I had a Big worry while I was there--
I will share it at another time)

It gave me creative freedom
and let's not forget
an art room as magical as Cinderella's castle.
It was paradise!

It was also so freeing
and yet so connected to my core of who I am and what I believe in!
Your art has a way of doing that...

Here is what I made:
A mix-media canvas...

Totally inspired from Melody Ross and her art!
She had so many of her canvases on the wall of our cabin.
Each one spoke to me and moved me.

Above the coffee, tea, and lemonade stand was a painting that I loved..
It had 2 birds.
Every morning, I would study it.
The layers, the flow, the details...
I was in aw.
My painting was one of the last projects I did at camp
I was 100% inspired by Miss Melody Ross!
She is magic!

Valentine's Day in Review

I am home from a life-changing trip!
I am holding on to the details of Brave Girl's Camp
like they are a precious gift. (which they 100% are)
Sharing the experience with you will take me time.
I am still trying to process it all
and recover some much needed sleep!

So in the meantime,
I would love to tell you about
Valentine's Day.

Every year since the kids have been little,
I kicked off Valentine's Day
with a Chocolate Breakfast.
Yes, you are reading the text correctly...

CHOCOLATE BREAKFAST!
Mmm mmm good!

This year's menu:

Chocolate Fountain for dipping bananas, strawberries, and marshmallows in
A mini chocolate cake
Chocolate chip waffles or pancakes
Suzy Q's
and cookies

My Valentine's Day started in the toilet.
I heard "Good Morning", then in the next sentence.
"Your dog left you a present in the hallway".
(this is not a box from my favorite blue box store...
this is exactly what you think it is!)

Wahhhhh! Valentine's Day Stinks!
So over-rated!

Just like anything in life-
I had to clean up the hallway
then persevere with my day!

Downstairs I found roses...ahhh!
Good move darling husband...

Talent, talent, talent!
I was so surprised and tickled!!!!

Dear husband surprised me with dinner plans.

Not typical on a Monday night and I must say
we really aren't big Valentine's Day Celebrators.
My birthday is too close to "Love Day".

I loved that he wouldn't tell me where we were going!
So, I stuck with the basic black Chanel looking dress and
the pearl necklace.
Simple elegance as I like to call it.

We passed the city, and just like I though drove to The Plaza.
He turned sooner than I thought
and parked at Cafe Trio.
I had never been there.

I felt giddy for a minute when we walked in.
The place was plastered with Valentine's Decor.
Feathery lanterns, hearts hanging everywhere, and a balloon arch...
It was a cross between prom decor and the movie set for Valentine's Day.

I had to take a photo with my camera
because no one would believe it without proof.
Of course, they had a special Valentine's Menu.
The food was fantastic....
even a glass of champagne came with dessert.

I don't like champagne...the bubbles tickle
and it doesn't taste good at all with chocolate.
Hubby isn't a champagne drinker either...
oh, well.

It was a fun night...

On a love note, I forgot to tell you
that my Valentine mailbox is in the

On the Road---with my Blinged out Apron

I can't post for a week.
I have to pay for my crafting habit and my love for shoes...

So, Hi-Ho Hi-Ho...it is off to work I go...

I am leaving you with this project.
It is my work apron.
Notice the pink flower...
It coordinates with the fabric on the pockets...

A little bit of stitching,

Some bling,

And a few felt flowers brought all the details on the apron to life!

Amy Butler Cosmo Bag Finished!

Wowzie!
Definitely not a beginner bag!

Amy Butler Cosmo Bag.

I agree with Lisa the directions need more photos or a YouTube video.
Much ripping out occurred on this project...
Sewed the handle on backwards...
Didn't cut out all the pieces...54 pieces (did I mention it wasn't a beginner bag?)
Yelled at it many times...
Cried...
Took it to Grandma's for repairs.

On the bright side...
It is big and roomy.

Has a large 1 1/2 inch covered button on it.
Great pockets on both sides of the bag.

Bonus pockets inside of the bag!

Made from interior decorating fabric so extra sturdy.
Which made it extra tough to sew.
Blah, blah, blah...

I am glad that I didn't sign up
to make one bag a month or
You may have had to
admit me to the
Sewing Psycho "Ward".

But, I did make a personal goal
to sew one project a month...

February's project I have had for almost a year...
Another Amy Butler pattern....
It is a cell phone or Ipod case.
Cross your fingers this one is a little easier for me...

Think Spring with Fabric Flowers!

All this snow
had me dreaming of bright, warm days.

With a little fabric
and a button,
I made these flower corsages.

This McCall's pattern helped guide
my first flower.
I used view "C".

I went overboard creating the flower pins....

Here's the how to:
1 strip of fabric 2 inches wide by 30 inches long.
1 strip of fabric 1 1/4 inches wide by 30 inches long.
Place the strips on top of each other so the right side of the fabric is visible.
Stitch a basting stitch by hand or using a sewing machine.
If you use your machine,make sure to set your stitch size at least a 5.5.
Pull the bottom thread, to gather the fabric.
It will coil into the shape of a flower.
Sew it together and add a button to the center.
If you like leaves, cut a leaf shape from the fabric.
You will need 2, a front and back to your leaf.
I put fusible fleece between the layer of my leaf and
then stitch an outline of the leaf on the sewing machine.
I hid the backside with a felt circle cut using my old fashion
Sizzix Machine. Sew on a pin back.
Ready to give or Ready to wear!

The flower is dazzling with rhinestones in it's center.

I had to leave you with a picture of a hawk
having it's dinner on our swing set.
Not something we see everyday in the city!

I created this little Super Bowl basket for your favorite football lover.
It is in the Hobby Lobby magazine.
Yes, the layout is little Miss H. when she was a little bug!

One of my favorite features in the basket is a little stuffed football
I made to throw at the television when the referee makes a bad call.

I have always admired Betz White.

I picked up her book
Warm Fuzzies at my craft store.
The cover just spoke to me and
the inside was full of clever ideas.

I was fortunate enough to meet Betz White
at Silverbella.
It was a quick, how's it going introduction.
She was sitting at her vendor table with all
those cupcakes from her book's cover in front of her.

I had to have one!
It is a pincushion.
She also had kits for sale to make this!

A Cup of Joe pincushion.
I LOVED IT!
I thought it looked like hot cocoa.

(Mmmm...drinking some tonight.)

I bought the kit and here is how mine turned out!
Finally finished it today with my mom.
I was scared to start it
but Betz had easy directions with pictures....
The pink and green colors are 100% ME!
It is made from recycled sweater pieces!

Tomorrow,

After looking at my friend Lisa's blog,
I thought to myself...
why not?

"Style Stitches Monthly Bag Challenge".

I just happen to thumb through Amy Butler's new book
"Style Stitches" at Urban Arts.

I was so inspired by the patterns, the colors, and textures.
It was just beautiful!

So (sew),
Why not?

make something I love,
something I will use,
time I can spend with my mom sewing

Perfect activity for a blizzard-y Wednesday.

The first challenge is to make this bag!

Jemellia helps by giving tips, linking to websites for advice, etc.
It is a sewing support group!

You just gotta love that!

I loved the shape of this tote..
The over-sized button,
and the option to make a long handle
or a short handle.

The next step was to choose my fabric...

Taste It Tuesday

Monday was "Make it Monday" on my blog.
Tuesday shall be "Taste it Tuesday".

Old Man Winter is BACK!
The temperature is dropping as I type.

The weather forecaster predicts 3-7 inches of the white stuff.

Time for another soup recipe:
Low in calories
High in yumminess!

Ingredients:
(short and sweet)
-2 bags of California Mixed Frozen Vegetable Mix
-8 oz of reduce calorie Velveeta Cheese.

-1 can of Rotel Tomatoes (spicy it up here)

-3 cans of low fat chicken broth

Directions:
Combine all ingredients except for the cheese.
Simmer until vegetables are cooked.
Add cheese. Stir well until melted.

One of my favorite recipes is a Black Bean and Corn Salsa:
HEALTHY with a capital "H"!
Also, DELICIOUS with a capital "D"!

Here's how:
Chop and mix any or all these ingredients:
-1 can black beans (rinse and drained)
-1 can whole kernal corn (drained)
-red pepper and yellow pepper
-red onion
-celery
-salsa (spicy baby)
-a dash ground cumin
-garlic minced
-lemon juice
-salt

Refrigerate, covered, until chilled....
Excellent on a whole wheat torttillas, as a salad topper, on a baked potato.

I blinked my eyes and the weekend sped by...

Husband home from Japan (check)
Sledding on favorite hill (check)
Projects completed for work (check)
Laundry almost done (half-check)
New cheesey soup made (check)
Blackbean salsa chopped and ready to eat (check-yum)
House cleaned (hard to keep this one checked since kids have been home)

How to Make a Chocolate Covered Strawberry and Not Gain a Pound

Well, I am kind of telling the truth.

Hobby Lobby had marked down
the fake fruit 50% off this week.

I was needing something red
to fill my glass jar for
Valentine's Day!

Strawberries sounded scrumptious!

4 bags of strawberries later
and it occurred to me that
the strawberries needed something.

CHOCOLATE of course!

Here are the steps to make your own:

Supplies needed:

Plastic fruit
Martha Stewart Crafts Brownstone Glitter
Americana Acrylic Paint in Burnt Umber

Plaid Clear Acrylic Sealer
Foam Paint Brush

Directions:

Paint strawberry's tip with brown paint.

Sprinkle Glitter on the strawberries while the paint is still wet

It really is that easy!
Spray your strawberries once they are dry with a sealer.
This will help keep the glitter from collecting at the bottom of your jar!

Remember these may look like real strawberries
but they are NOT!
Keep out of reach from young children and little paws!

I Like it, I Love it, I Want Some More of it

My day didn't go as I had planned it~
By 11 o'clock it had totally changed.
Plans in the bucket!!

The phone rang...it was school calling.
Remember, today my sweet children went back to school.
I have been enjoying H & S's company for the last 3 days.

Little Miss H. is chilling and has a migraine.

Wahhhhhhhhhh!

No Chandelier making for me...
But, I didn't get a few things off my list.

1. Quick Errands Ran (only 2)

2. Picked up the New Hobby Lobby Magazine.
     (I LOVE IT @ $1.99)

3. Mailed Christmas Thank-You Notes
    (Yes, we are slow)
4. Cleaned up My Blog
    (April Shower's is working on it,
       but I needed it more organized)

5. Finished a few projects
    (still have a few to go)

6. Wrapped a Baby Gift

7. Took out the trash

8.   Begged husband to take me to Las Vegas
     for a Garth Brooks concert.
     (yes, I am insane)

9. McDonald's for super
    (I got the kid's Happy Meal)

10. Helped Mr.S learn his spelling words
    (Man, some are tough even for me)

So, I thought I might share with you some of my latest likes!

Oh, I am sure they were smiling at me on the computer screen.

I think they would look pretty fine in my studio

It is there first album
but, they were discovered on the TV Show

Yes, they are a couple...super cute!

Ode to Wendy Addison and Travels To Tinsel Trading

Here it goes...

There once was a girl named Wendy Addison,
She could have been president like James Madison,
(I couldn't come up with anything else that rhymes--snicker, snicker)

But instead,
She filled her head
With thoughts of sparkly glitter

She traveled the world.
but found her true love
in her Theatre of Dreams!

Good thing I am a paper crafter and not a poet!

Let me tell you about Wendy Addison.
Above my studio desk hangs a large banner
that says, "Dream".
She made it.
I found it at a little store in Parkville, Missouri.

I have several other prized pieces
of Wendy's that I truly treasure.
Each one is made with German Glass Glitter.
There's nothing on the planet like it.
Wendy has a wonderful story
about how she traveled to Germany to find it.
I never thought in a million years I would meet her.
But, my dear friend, Rachel said let's go
to St. Louis and take a few classes.
So, we did.
I took 2 Wendy Addison classes!

Dreams do come true...

My classes were back in April.
I am still finishing my chandelier.
I ran out of German Glitter Glass.
So, when I was in New York
I went to Tinsel Trading to
purchase more.

Guess who was there at the same time?
WENDY ADDISON (all the way from California).
I promise I am not a stalker.
I just have so much admiration for her art!

Last year, was my first time in New York.
I was too shy to ask if I could take photos.
This year, I am older (snicker, snicker)
So I asked
She said YES!
Isn't it dreamy!
I met Marcia in St. Louis too.
Super nice, super real....
I like people like that!

This is me with the famous Wendy Addison.
The bag she is holding is full of glitter.

It sparkles more than anything I have ever seen!

Here is how the glitter is packaged and you can order it

We started by tracing cardboard stencils.
Then, we cut them out.
Next step-Glitter!

Welcome Mother Nature!
She showed us what she was made of
and I loved every snowflake of it.

It was probably 10 inches
when she was finished.

Wahoo--
Glad to finally see winter!

Meet Mr. #1 snow scooper --
He was such a big help!

Here is the healthy soup I was telling you about.
It is easy breezy to make.
Ingredients :
Beef Broth,
Zucchini Squash,
Carrots,
Cabbage,
Mushrooms,
Oregano,
and Basil

(add or take out the veggies you don't like.
I removed the onions-BLah!)

Directions:
1. Place a large can of the Beef Broth
in a soup pan and heat on medium.
2. Saute carrots in a skillet until soft...(not mushy)
3. Place all ingredients in soup pan and boil until soften.
4. Let it cool so you don't burn your tongue.
Enjoy! Mmm Mmm Good!

I seriously think if Anthropologie had a fan club,

I would be #1.

If you look at my art you will notice two things:
1) I love texture on my project
2) I pay great attention to details

I think Anthropologie also pays great attention to details
as seen on their clothing, jewelry, and home items.

They use texture in amazing ways too.

I just bought a dress that had little crochet balls at the neckline.

When I was in New York,
I had to take photos of the
Anthropologie Store Windows.
Outstanding!

All the details had my creativity flowing...
Remember when I said
I though burlap was going to be hot!
( I posted about it before Halloween)

New York State of Mind

I think I could be a New Yorker....
I absolutely love that city!
The art, the commotion, the history, and all the cultures.
New York is the heartbeat of America!

I was in New York right before Christmas.
What a magical place to visit during the holiday season.
Come take a peek at my second trip to
The Big Apple
in a 2 week period of time!

Pinch me
I must be dreaming...
We aren't really staying HERE!

Yes, we are!
As soon as I walked into the lobby,
I was greeted with the hustle and bustle of the holidays!
I felt like I was in an old Hollywood Movie.

So grand!
From the trees to the lightening...
I just could keep track of all the delicious details.

Under the tree displayed tons of old trunks and suitcases.
I thought this was clever.
At home, I have a travel tree.
It is a small, tabletop tree full of ornaments for our trips.

Wouldn't it be fun to display the tree coming out of a suitcase?

Tiny packages are wrapped an tucked all in the tree.

Played by the famous Cole Porter.
The painting on the piano took by breath away!

These large urns were glittery and ornate.
Garlands were wrapped and ornaments hung from them
They were strikingly beautiful displayed in the main lobby.

Here is why I was so fortunate to go to New York.
I packed myself in my husband's suitcase
for a special dinner
with a special customer.

The restaurant was abundant with beautiful flowers.

The table was elegantly set for the dinner.
The lightening just made the room glow!

Here we are!

it was $100 cheaper at Saks than it was from Dillards.)

The view was outstanding.
The restaurant sat under the Brooklyn Bridge.

Besides the lovely flower and the delicious food...

I got to spend time with Kumi!

It was too pretty to eat!
Yes, that is the Brooklyn bridge made of chocolate!

Shane and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary this month.
It seemed like such a milestone in our lives that we needed to mark the occasion with friends.
We headed to The Plaza and dined at McCormick's and Schmick's
Great food, Great conversation....
And the best dessert on the planet-A Chocolate Sack!

(I forgot to mention our friends also have a December wedding anniversary-
that's why we celebrated together)

Shane rocked my world with my favorite blue box present.
It was a sweet silver heart!
LOVE IT!
I have worn it everyday!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday!
We had a terrific day!

First, lunch at O'Dowds.
She loves Ireland- so it was the perfect choice.

Then, shopping.
My mom has always loved make-up.
So, when Lancome came out with this pink kit....
I knew it was perfect.
We went to Sephora's for nail polish.

And then, went to Kohl's....my mom was wanting a new coat.
LOOK what we found-Ralph Lauren Sweater Coat!
Classy and cute!
We got matching coats!

We both had a wonderful day!

Georgetown Cupcakes-Mmmm Good

Not very long ago,
I was on a plane to D.C.
with the cute husband.

He took me to a Monday Night football game-
Redskins verses Eagles

The Eagles stomped the Redskins-
I was alittle sad for my Redskins,
So what would make my day?

CUPCAKES
GEORGETOWN CUPCAKES!

Now, the truth of the story is
I was hoping,
crossing my fingers and my toes,
and whining to my cousin, John-

I needed to go to Georgetown Cupcakes.
I was too close not to have a tasty treat.
I went before the game....

My sweet, cousin met me in Georgetown.
Googled the address,
Sent me directions, and
Stood in a very long line to make sure I got my cupcake.

Yes, He is a keeper!

In return,
I gave him and my cute husband
a pass to the bar
so they wouldn't have to stand
in a line for "a girly cupcake".

I waited patiently for my treat!

When I approached the counter,
I ordered the most sinful chocolate cupcake they had!
Yes, those were my exact words.....

It was awesome!

For the boys, I purchased Red Velvet cupcakes
because I thought they sounded manly.
They came with a heart on them...
Snicker, snicker....

The night we went to DC Cupcakes,
they were filming their reality show.

I felt like I won the lottery.

A Thankful Time of Year

It was a good day!

The turkey's aroma filled the house.
The kids watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade
just like I did when I was little.
And family from Iowa drove to feast with us.

My dear husband ALWAYS looks at me
with such affection or irritation.
Depending on how you look at it!

My mom looking glamorous as always.

The kids-
3 girls and 3 boys until Monday.

The sweet dog begging for turkey
but won't put the squeaky toy down.

Instead of our annual trip to the Plaza Lighting Ceremony,
we headed to Longview Farm for a lighted spectacular.
It is free, warm, and beautiful!

They decided to dress up like spooks to scare the boys!
Aren't they entertaining!

Meet Amazing Amy!
She is a craft rock star in my book!
We are looking festive in our hats for Silver Bella Vendor night.
The theme was 1000 Hats!

Let me tell you about Amy.
I met her many Silver Bella's ago.
But, before meeting I used to read her blog Inspire Co.
And, yes I was inspired by her.
Every little detail of her work is YUMMY!

My first SB when we met, she had a booth at vendor night.
I bought her perfume called Silver Bella!
It smelled like clean linen and the bottle had a small silver bell hanging on it.
See what I mean about the details in her work?
Her table had sugar glitter houses on it that were sold out in seconds.
The back drop to her table had painted clouds on it.
I was in awe!

Now, I am happy to call Amy a friend.
We have been to several Silverbella's since.
I still feel she is a creative genius
- but most importantly she is a nice person with a big heart!

Here is her latest project!

I started my day with Charlotte Lyons.
She always knows how to make my day-
We created this nifty necklace scissor holder.
She even taught us how to crochet.

In a few days you will understand why!

I look like a mugshot is being taken!

Next class-
Teacup Fairy by Beth Quinn.

She is made from a teacup, wire armature, and a Frozen Charlotte Head.
Mine is the blond and Jessi's is the brunette.
Our fairies are friends, just like us!

We made it to our destination and was ready for the festivities to start.

The packaging for your swap is an important as what is placed in it.

I think Miss Denise is my soul sister.
We share a love for PINK and have such similar taste and style.
I was dying over her pink ballet shoes!!!

This is the pond I learned to ice skate on,
where I put worms on hooks to fish with,
and rode my bike around on dirt paths through the woods.

Resin + CANDY

This weekend was a "no plans weekend"-
Those are rare!

So, I took advantage of the free time and played with Resin.

I had never used it before and was amazed at how slick it worked....
Here is a great blog with more Resin Tips-Crafty Minx

My best advice is to read the instructions thoroughly
and to mix the ingredients longer and more than you think you need too.
I set the timer on the microwave to help me.
Also, remove bubbles by using your embossing heat tool.
It works like magic.

I made a bracelet and some little baubles for jewelry.
It was so easy and fun I plan to make some more candy jewelry!
You know how I have a terrible sweet tooth!

Her sweet little niece, Kyrie, was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

At only 17 months old, Kyrie fought hard, but the tumor grew -

Mary Engelbreit's Inspirational Studio

So back in April-
I went on an adventure with Rachel.
We traveled over the hills
and through the woods to Mary Engelbreit's studio!

I never posted about the trip-
because it was right before my dad got so sick....

We were greeted by a little friend...
isn't she charming!

This is the front counter in her studio and offices.
I just love the Queen!
It makes me think that Miss Mary is keeping an eye on everything.

I didn't notice the pots with the flowers in them until I looked closer at the photos.
Life is all about the details and this space is full of them.

Every inch of space in the lobby is grand and inviting!

This is where a real artist works....

I felt like the day I explored Mary's studio,

I think you learn a lot about an artist when you look at their memo board.
It tells a tale of what they like, who they like, and what charges their creativity.

Kaari Meng is Charm-ing!

I was flipping through the pages and look-y look at what I found!

A Kaari Meng Charm bracelet!

It is a slice of pink heaven!

Just delicious!

I am lucky to say that I have met Kaari on a couple of occasions.

Here we are at Silverbella last Fall.
I made a rosary necklace.

Then, I saw her again in St. Louis, when I took a charm bracelet class.

Oh, what a class!

Kaari is such a good teacher.

She says things like,
"put one of your pliers at 3 o'clock and the other one at 9 o'clock".
Finally, at teacher that speaks my language.
She is visual and verbal...very helpful when you are a student in a class.

Yes, I was so scared.
Would I ever be able to do this?
I listened very carefully and took my time.

I even broke out my Beacon 527 for gluing on the baubles....
Yes, I can do this!

I am in love!
Look what I did....

Now for the Kaari tip:

I have taken a lot of jewelry classes and I struggle with getting my jump ring closed completely.

If you have that problem, then here is a Kaari tip
that made a world of difference in my jewelry making.

She said,

put one of your pliers at 3 o'clock and the other pliers at 9 o'clock-
then make 3 o'clock come towards you and 9 o'clock go away from you.
Add your charm and place the opened jump ring in a link on your chain.

When closing the jump ring:

Have 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock meet together except
Have them go slightly passed each other and then together.
You will hear a faint click when they go passed each other.

It is magic to your ears because the jump ring locks back shut.
Ooh La La....music to my ears!

I thought this little tip was the best thing since slice bread.

I remember, when I was a little girl,
the Sears Catalogue would magically appear.
It was packed full of

wonderful toys.
Dolls I had never seen before
and Barbie's Dream House

which I wanted more than anything!

As I grew older, the wish book stopped coming,
that was until yesterday!

Toot toot!

Jo-Ann's made a dreamy wish book for me!
