Ready to Play in Monterey....
I have my bags packed and I am heading out for a little vacation. We are on our way to beautiful Monterey Bay in California. It is where the Pebble Beach Golf Course is. I don't play golf at all...no eye-hand-coordination...except with a pair of scissors. I am crossing everything that I have my luggage upon arrival...wink, wink after last year's vacation to Europe (sigh). Hopefully, I will have some stunning photos to share on my return. If they are a little blurry, remember I am in wine country. Oh, I also wanted to let you know that neat Heather H. has a delicious blog ....visit her here http://craftastictimes.blogspot.com/ She has tons of fabulous ideas...Tah-tah for now! Kara

Glorious Road Trips!
I don't do this often, but I wish I would do it more...ROAD TRIPS! When I saw this class on Red Lead's Blog http://www.redlead.typepad.com/ oh, I knew I was going. My mom watched my kiddos, because Shane was on his way to Japan. We loaded the car at 4:30 am and drove in the dark and the fog. Yikes! It was all worth every moment to make this glorious bracelet and to explore Red Lead. It is definitely like a treasure shop for paper crafters and mixed media arts. I like the classes that stretch me and bring out the inner artist. Oh, how my wheels were turning. I want to make more of these bracelets. It was rewarding to complete it and to wear it. Thanks to our Red Lead Sisters for always bringing on the adventure and welcoming us to your store. It is always a treat!!!

A Haunting we will go...

I love little houses. I always have. It started with a dollhouse my Mom and Dad built. Then, it was a Barbie dream house. Then, a little mouse house with mice from England living inside. In the Fall, I crave little haunted houses. I love this one made by the "ever-so talented" Heather Hussey. She used Target K & Company papers. The line is called Marcella. It can be purchased here: http://www.target.com/Trick-Treat-Page-Project-Kit/dp/B001E4U5W4/qid=1222096954/ref=br_1_5/602-8960605-9975033?ie=UTF8&node=702404011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1
Heather decorated a bird house to make this spooky home. Don't you think she needs to start her own blog? She has such great ideas... The project below Heather's is one of mine. It is sold as a make-n-take from K & Company. I recommend emailing K & Company to find out about purchasing it. All the pieces are included to make the little house mini book (534414). The cool factor is when you pull the striped paper under the word "Thrills" the large ghost in the window disappears. I love interactive books! They are spooktacular!! Kara

Don't Cha Just Love This Weather?

When the weather is nice, it is time to get outside. Boy, was it beautiful this weekend. The Ward's packed up the Ford and headed to the Plaza. We met a cousin at the Art Fair. Whew, was there a lot of people there! I am pretty sure it was all of Kansas City! We ate a huge dinner at Buca's. Don't you just love the Pope room? It makes me chuckle every time we pass it. Sutton's pizza took a little long to cook, so Buca bought us a dessert. It was a yummy, chocolate brownie thing. No wonder my pants don't fit. In the ladies restroom we found this hilarious sign. I just had to snap a picture of it. It had us all in stitches.

The next day we headed to the Renaissance Festival! HUZZAH! Hayden's friend, got us some tickets! Yippee and Thanks a bunch! The lovely Queen below with her court is Hayden's before school choir teacher. She has been the Queen of the Renaissance Festival for 3 years. It is quite an accomplishment. She greeted Hayden as soon as we walked through the gates. Hayden was beaming ear to ear. Val and her cute boyfriend, allowed us to be their guests at the festival. We had a royal time taking in all the art and attractions. So much talent walk through those kingdom grounds. All that fresh air, put me to sleep on the ride home.

Scrapfest...so much FUN!
Scrapfest 2008 was so much fun! It was Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Mall of America. How could you not have fun with 3000 fellow crafters and tons of stores calling your name....I was lucky enough to go with the K and Company Team...Therese, Misty, and Cherie. All of them are such hard workers and creative souls.

It is hard to believe a shopping center with an amusement park in it. I really wanted to ride the log ride but not enough hours in the day! wink, wink.

Here is our booth from the second floor of the mall.
In our class, we set up a trunk show. We want our scrapbookers to come away with tons of ideas using Amy Butler, Fall Harvest, and Halloween Whimsy. Take a peek into our suitcases.

The great white shark ate all the projects! Just kidding...I will show them on the next post! Hugs-Kara
