Scrap St. Louis with For Keeps Sakes!

I was lucky enough to go to St. Louis and enjoy a weekend spent with fellow crafter's. The event was called "Scrap St. Louis" and it was hosted by the fabulous store For Keeps Sakes http://www.forkeepssake.typepad.com/. This is definitely a destination store. It has EVERYTHING a crafter could want and more!!!!! It truly is a mega store owned and ran by some amazing crafter's. Here are some pictures from the event. If you have not been to For Keeps Sakes and are heading on a summer vacation to the St. Louis area, make sure to stop in, you won't be disappointed.

We had a trunk show. I have never been to a trunk show before, but it was such a neat experience. Here is what my table looked like. The suit case is a stinky one but I loved the bars in it for hanging pants. You could hang cards from it too!I was so nervous about my display. I am not good at things like this!!! sweat, sweat!!

Oh, because I am crazy....I soldered 100 charms as a keepsake for the weekend. I used children's dominos as the base and the image was from clipart book with wedding images and borders in it. I bought the book at Michael's.

For the retreat, I taught make-n-takes all weekend. I designed a little mini book to be used on a layout from K and Company's Sea Glass line. We used a matte pad book and a tag pad book, ribbon, and one Grand Adhesion sticker. This is what my table looked like. Here were some cute Kansas City girls. Don't you just love them!!!! CHEESE!
These ladies I had met in my class at For Keeps Sakes back in April. It was good catching up. They would keep me in stitches.

Scrap St. Louis is planned for next year. Contact the store for sign up dates and more information. Thanks for a lovely weekend. Kara

Happy Father's Day!!!

Okay, this is what happens when you try to take a photo of the King of the House! Yes, he shot me several times! Hm mm, how many children do I have? Happy Father's Day!!! We planned to go to Worlds of Fun, but the weather didn't permit it. When the storm passed, it was nice to play outside. I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning out a few junky drawers. Nothing to exciting! We went to my parents and took my Dad a large can of Topsy popcorn. So yummy-Carmel, cheese, and butter. My mom and I worked on a new wreath for my front door. The old one had been in too many storms. The leaves faded from green to blue. It just looked beat up on my front door. Good Ole Hobby Lobby had their flowers half-off, so here is what I came home with. Not a wreath, I decided I was tired of a wreath and I bought a grapevine basket with chicken wire in it. I picked colors I like with our home...red, golden yellow, and olive greens. I hope this one can weather the crazy Midwest storms we have been experiencing.

Saturday, the first storm-free day in awhile, we headed to the lake. Little Mr. C, Miss H, Mr. S, and Miss S were ready to tube. They kept showing us the thumbs up sign to make the boat go fast. Not, many boats out on the lake...I wonder if gas prices are affecting boaters too?

Friday night, I taught a soldering class. I love these classes. We create a Junk Gypsy style game piece necklace. We learned how to solder a die, scrabble letter, dominoes, and dragon tears. I love wearable art!!! Next class we will make an art party girl soldered charm with necklace included.

May is like December!

May kicks my tushy every year....I am finally through the hectic schedules and trying to get use to the Summer one. I am working this summer....first time ever!!!! But, I love my little job and get excited about the new products coming out. Today, was my day to go through 400 emails...check, update my poor blog...check. I still need to finish my necklace for class tonight, go to the bank, pick up a father's day gift for Shane, and make a new wreath for the front door.

The images shown are from my dear, friend Gayle. She made this adorable paper cake using boxes. The cake was a birthday gift for her sweet and spicy daughter Jessica. Gayle is one creative soul. The details on the cake with the gems are amazing.

I hope all is well with my blogg-y friends. Say a little prayer for my friend Liv...she has had a roller coaster of a summer so far.

Take care, Kara
